Reunion Weekend 2012

One of our most favorite weekends of the year! The second weekend in July we got together with all of our college friends for our annual reunion. We went to the Mitchell's again because lets face it...they are the only ones that can house all of us. We had 7 adults and 8 babies! We got there Thursday afternoon and went out to eat dinner! After dinner the kids HAD to swim and went to bed way too late! We visited for awhile but lets face it... we're old and definitely don't stay up as late as we did in college. Well, they don't stay up as late as they used to. I always went to bed shortly after midnight. :)
Friday we spent all day outside! I loved it and so did my kids. I think Trent even had fun too. (He doesn't love being outside since he's out so much for football/track). This pool is like a resort. It's unreal. Kate and Kendall were both great swimmers and were swimming so well. I had hoped Madison would see them and get the courage to lose her puddle jumper. By late afternoon she was finally there. She was swimming to me and EVEN coming up to take a breath. It's amazing what friends can encourage you to do. Fun now, scary when they become teenagers. Friday night we grilled out and swam until the kids went to bed. As always, it was great catching up and visiting with everyone. This year was extra special since Michelle was back!

Kendall and Madison --Kate did not want to stop swimming to get in the picture!

Saturday morning we had breakfast and headed back to the pool for a little bit. We came in for lunch and then got cleaned up, packed up and headed out!

Our group shot and family shots! We had the camera set on a timer so most of the time none of the kids were looking. That's ok. At least we got a picture!

 Our family!

The Dane's- Ashley, Cooper, Kendall and Randy

The Mitchell's-Kate, Hannah, David, Amy and Natalie

Kendall and Karsyn - Kendall loved the babies! Karsyn loved the attention she got from sweet Kendall! She will make a great big sister for the 2nd time soon. The Dane's are in the process of adopting a baby from China. Hopefully she'll be with us next year when we get together. We can't wait to meet her.

We so appreciate everything that goes into David and Amy having us for a weekend. Amy does an amazing job of being the hostess, even when she just had a baby. We had tons of desserts, big breakfasts each morning and tons of snacks. Thank Yall for EVERYTHING!!!

Lake Weatherford

Joan and Shon bought a lake house on Lake Weatherford. We haven't been out because they have spent the last several months re-modeling all of it. They invited everyone out for the 4th! Since the 4th was in the middle of the week, Mom and Ron waited until the weekend to go. We wanted to see them so we waited too. We woke up Saturday morning and headed out. We were at the lake around 11:00 and stayed until 10 that evening! The kids had a great time and so did we!

Her first boat ride - It was short lived! She was tired but I thought once we started going the wind would make her go to sleep and everything would be fine. Boy was I wrong. She HATED the life jacket and was not going to give up and go to sleep. We stopped to swim for a little bit and put her in. She was ok for a minute and then realized she still had the life jacket on and started screaming again! I had them take me back to the house and I put her down for a nap. Cooper got off with me so we hung out on the dock after Karsyn went to bed.

While we were on the dock this brave girl got on the tube! She made her Nana (who had a hurt neck) go with her. She has one nice Nana. I couldn't believe she was brave enough to go. After Madison finished tubing they came and got me and Trent stayed with Karsyn and Cooper at the house. Cooper wasn't too interested in the boat. He had more fun on the dock with the water gun.

A view of their house from the dock!

This little girl is a lake rat! She loved it. She loved being on the boat, she loved swimming, she loved the tube. It was so fun to see how excited she was.

I don't think he put this gun down the entire time we were there.

The water was really low but it worked out great because we had this sandy area they could play in. Madison spent a lot of time swimming from the sand to the ladder on the dock. I was impressed that she wasn't scared to swim by herself. Even I don't swim in the lake alone. :)

A storm a rolled in late afternoon and afterwards everyone went fishing!

  This girl went swimming again...

Trent talked her into a sea doo ride. She didn't love it.

love those little cheeks hanging out :)

We had a great day and loved being on the lake. Hopefully we can go again before summer is over!

4th of July

Happy 4th of July!! It was weird to not be at the lake for the 4th, or even Thousand Trails. This was a pretty low key 4th. We headed to Celina after lunch to hang out with Trent's family and grill out. Before we left I tried to get a few pictures of the kids. None of them really turned out.

We stopped at the Firework stand before heading to Celina. The kids were super excited to get some fireworks.
Gary grilled out all afternoon on Saturday. After dinner we headed over to Van & Kathy's to swim!

Once it got dark we headed back over to Gary and Sue Ann's to do some fireworks! The sparklers were BIG hit!

Enjoying his 4th of July cupcake

We had a great day with family and now we're looking forward to heading to the lake with Nana and Pa!
