Eggs

Madison dyed her first Easter eggs today! It was quite the experience. I handed her the first egg and she slammed it onto the table. Then when she went to put it in the cup she dropped it right in...splashing dye everywhere! If the egg hadn't already been cracked, it would have then. She had a great time. She would color on the egg and then tell us what color she wanted to put it in. Daddy had just as much fun as Madison, if not more. In the end, we ended up watching him. :) We started out with 18 eggs and have 12 to take. A few cracked when we boiled them and the rest cracked from Madison's decorating skills.

coloring her eggs

pulling it out of the dye

she just uses her hands, she doesn't need the tools they give you!

watching her Daddy! Notice the farmers tan she's got goin' on!

All done!

Camryn's Boots

Madison found a pair of Camryn's old boots and decided she needed to wear them around. She is definitely a shoe person!! I guess we need to get her a pair of her own to wear.

Gene Pop

We will all miss Gene Pop! Madison said his name for the first time when we went to see him in the hospital. He never got to hear her say it...

doesn't she look so long in this picture??

She is feeding Jack and Rosco the rest of her spaghetti - she's pretty proud about it too!

she's obviously not happy about something

Her lid blew off her sandbox at some point last week, during all the wind storms, so her sand is now mud! Saturday morning she spent a long time throwing all of the mud on the porch! Now we have dried mud all over the turtle and the porch. Oh well, she had fun and it entertained her for a long time...

Reid had his 3rd birthday party at Chuck-E-Cheese this past weekend. Trent has been wanting to take Madison since I was pregnant with her. She had a great time. She used all of her tokens on a water game and riding 'honey'. She loves spending time with all of her cousins! I forgot to get my camera out until the party was almost over. I didn't ever get a good picture of her with the birthday boy.

Spring Break

What a week...what a week! We haven't been this busy in a long time. I'm glad I started feeling better at the end of last week. I don't think I would have survived if not. We went to Abilene, Celina, had a massage, re-did the flower bed, and welcomed our new precious niece...all in the last 7 days! I'll apologize now for the length of this post...

ABILENE
Our Spring Break started with a trip to Abilene. We left Friday after school and came home Monday morning. We had a very relaxing trip. We visited with both sets of parents and all of my grandparents. We played out back and made a trip to the park. It was cold the first day and half so that kept us inside. Madison had a great time and still asks for her Nana, Pa, Papa and Mammy (supposed to be Grammy)!
Madison had to color her own picture while Grammy and Papa worked on a door sign for the soccer team!

playing outside Sunday afternoon

Here are a few pictures from the park! She loves the slides. They are her favorite! She loves to go down on her belly!

BACK HOME IN ARGYLE
Monday we got back home and started taking out all of the bushes in our flower bed. When we built the house, they put in a flower bed for us. We've always hated it. We've already taken out several plants and given them away. We decided we (Trent) would re-do it over Spring Break. So here is a before picture!
"helping" in the yard!

taking a break in the shade to eat some ice (rice as she calls it)

*Tuesday was spent driving to Celina to pick up Gary's truck and shopping for bushes. We needed the truck to go buy the new plants and to pick up Madison's new bedroom furniture. A guy Trent worked with gave us his daughters old furniture. It's beautiful! I'll post pictures when we get it in the house...that may be awhile. After getting the truck we spent the day going from nursery to nursery buying bushes. Then Trent had to go pick up all of Madison's new furniture. It was a very long day!

DR. WILSON and CELINA
On Wednesday, I went in for my monthly check-up! Trent and Madison came with me. We got to hear the baby's heart beat for the first time. Dr. Wilson told Madison he thought she was having a little brother. We'll see if he's right. He was right with Madison. He has also been right with my niece and nephew. We get to find out next month! I can't wait. While we were waiting on him to come in Madison wanted to lay on the bed. I had to pretend to be the doctor and check her throat, ears, nose, and belly. I'm surprised she wanted me to do that because she hates the doctors! I guess when Mommy does it, it's funny.
After we left the doctor Madison went and stayed with her Nana and Pop Pop in Celina for the afternoon and early evening. They had given us a gift certificate to get a massage at Christmas so we finally used them! It was wonderful! We each had an hour massage and afterwards we went and ate some of my favorite food...japanese food! I ate too much and loved every bit of it! Madison had fun playing with Nana and Pop Pop. We didn't get home until after 9:00! It was a very long day AGAIN!
KAILYN GRACE VEST
The best part of Spring Break is that our newest niece and cousin was born!! Kailyn Grace Vest was born Thursday morning a little after 8:00! We barely made it to the hospital in time. We weren't there early enough to see Mel before she had her. Kailyn came REALLY FAST! She is just so precious! I can't wait to go visit her at home so I can hold her and not share with all the other visitors :) Madison LOVES her and she's very gentle with her. Ethan is such a proud big brother!

Madison, Ethan, Melanie and Kailyn within 30 minutes of her arriving! We left after about an hour so that Mel could rest and have some time with her new family. We came home and Trent and Madison finished up the flower bed while I cleaned the house.

helping Daddy - so cute!!

It's FINALLY finished! It looks great! Trent did such a great job on it! I love it. I can't wait to see how it turns out when everything starts growing. It's such a huge difference from the way it looked before.

After Trent was finished working in the yard we cleaned up and went back to visit Baby Kailyn!
Pop Pop with Madison and Ethan!

Ethan and Madison! Madison bought that bunny for Kailyn and then didn't want to give it to her. We are still learning the whole concept of buying gifts for other people :) She ended up leaving it in her bed before we left for the night!

Sweet Kailyn Grace! She was 7lbs 3 oz and 18 1/2 inches long!

Madison looks sad here because she fell out of the chair when she was trying to get up there to hold Kailyn. After Pop Pop gave her some hugs and made sure she was ok we told her she had to stop crying if she still wanted to hold Kailyn because it would scare her. She was so cute, she tried her hardest to stop because she wanted to hold her so bad! It's moments like these that make me realize how big she is getting. If you click on the picture you can see her face and hands are still wet from all the tears. She's just so sweet!

Giving her new cousin kisses!

Madison is no longer the baby on the Vest side. She now has 5 cousins! Seeing her with Kailyn makes her seem so much bigger and so grown up. She's developing quite the personality. She's so full of energy and she's talking so much. She's becoming a different baby. She's still so good and so easy going! I can't wait to see what baby #2 will be like.

Well, we still have 3 more days until we go back to school. We hope to lay low the rest of the week. I know we'll go visit Kailyn at least one more time and we have some friends coming over Saturday night but I think that's all for the activities this week. We never made it to the zoo. That was the one thing I wanted to do. I guess we'll have to find a Saturday to go...

Playing outside!

Madison was LOVING the warm weather! This past weekend and early this week we spent every day/evening either going on a walk or playing in the backyard. Since it's gotten cold again we haven't been able to go out and she does not understand why. Everyday she stands at the back door and says "ouside" "Peas ouside". Hopefully it warms up again soon so my baby can go back to playing ouside. :)

I LOVE this picture!

Helping Daddy water the trees. She just couldn't resist putting her hand in the water.

Crazy Hair!

Love it! I ran in to turn on the oven and she smashed her face against the backdoor while she waited on me to come back. She's saying 'cheese'.

measuring things...

Hanging out with Jack. For some reason he goes to this corner of the yard all the time!

sweeping off all the dirt she put on the porch!

Madison would live outside if we let her! She's so funny because while she plays I'll try to pick a few weeds. After awhile she will come over and start helping me. The girl can pull some weeds. I'm counting down the days til summer. I can't wait to spend everyday playing with her.
