in Abilene...without Trent! That's how we celebrate Thanksgiving every other year. In the 5 years that we've been married Trent has never made it to Abilene for Thanksgiving. They are always still playing football and he has practice every day. So every other year I load up -once alone, once with Madison and now this past time with Madison and Cooper and head to Abilene with out him. Although we didn't have Trent with us (and we wish we did) we still had a good time.
Wednesday was a crazy day. I got to town around noon. Had lunch at Mom's and got to visit with Grandpa for a little bit. Nana went and got Madison her own burrito since she had asked me for one the other day when I was on the phone with Nana. (We were leaving Denton headed home and Madison said "Mommy, I want a burrito". I said, "Where do I get you a burrito Madison" and she said, "Right there, at the burrito store" pointing at Taco Bueno...Yes, my child knows what Bueno is at 2 years old)! So, Madison was excited about her burrito.
Then I went to visit one of my best friends from high school (really middle school). She has a little boy that is 3 months older than Madison. Madison was shy at first and didn't want to play. He kept wanting her to run with him. She finally started warming up but then he got sick so we had to cut our visit short. I didn't get any pictures while we were there. I had such a great time visiting with her and catching up.
After I left Britni's we headed over to Dad's for an early dinner before he went to work. The kids were already getting tired of the car and it was only day 1. We had bar-b-q for dinner and it was great! The kids played with their toys and just as we were getting settled there we loaded up and went to my Grandmother's to spend time with my mom's family
Madison helped her Papa and Uncle Randy put a puzzle together. When I say help I mean helped take it apart. I think this is the closest to Randy she got all week :)
It is so different for Madison when we go to Abilene because she is the only kid running around. When we're in Celina there are 4 others that are running around with her plus two babies. I felt bad for her at first because she was wanting someone to play with her. All the adults were sitting around visiting but over time she was able to find different friends throughout the night. Joan and Kara pushed her on Grandmoms' walker/wheelchair a lot. Thanks to Joan, the game got started and thanks to Kara for being a good aunt, the game kept going. Madison had so much fun being pushed around.
Thanksgiving Day was another busy day. We got up and went to Mom's (I stayed the night with Dad each night) that morning. I tried to get a family picture (minus Trent) but it's hard with two of them. Cooper wouldn't hold his head up and Madison was hugging me. We never got a great one but here is what we got...
I tried to get one of the kids but again...Cooper was falling over and Madison was looking at everyone but me!
We ate out with Dad this year. The Elegante hotel has a buffet on every holiday. Mom and Ron had eaten there one year for Easter so this year Laurie and her mom decided we were going to eat out. It was a different experience. The food was good...it wasn't our good home cooked food but it was good. I don't think we'll ever do it again. Laurie hated it. Here are some pictures from our afternoon of eating out.
That night we took Madison (and Cooper) to PrimeTime. Madison had a great time playing all the games. They have the neatest playground. It's perfect for her size. I felt bad for her since she was all alone so I played in the playground with her. There were no other kids there. When I was tired of playing she talked her Papa into playing with her. Grammy had Cooper.
The funniest part of the night was when she went to cash in her tickets. I expected her to want a necklace or something girly. Nope, she wanted the yellow snake. So that's what she got.
Friday we played at Dad's for awhile and then headed back over to Mom's. Kara and I went to a few stores and picked up some lunch. We left town around 2 and met Trent at the new FREEBIRDS by our house! Madison was so excited to see her Daddy!! Now we're trying to recover before heading to Arlington tonight for more football!
