This was the first year we didn't do a big family birthday party. Dad and Laurie came in the weekend before Madison's birthday to see her and bring her a birthday present. In true Grammy & Papa style, everyone got a gift bag full of goodies.
Then Madison got to open her birthday presents--she got the Barbie closet that she has been wanting since Christmas. She also got some clothes but she wasn't as interested in those. ;)
We started a count down for her birthday 4 days out. I think I was feeling so guilty that we weren't going to be with her on her real birthday. I was wanting to make sure she felt extra special and loved. :) I wrote numbers and she decorated them. Then we taped them on the pantry door. Every morning we took her picture and then took a number off. She LOVED this. I think it will be a new tradition. Maybe next year we'll start a little further out.
We celebrated her birthday 2 days before her real birthday! She got to pick breakfast, lunch & dinner. She chose Lucky Charms for breakfast and Peanut Butter & Jelly for lunch. She's easy. Olive Garden was her dinner choice. That was not surprise. It's her FAVORITE place. She only gets it on her birthday.
Lucky Charm Breakfast
Giving her new bike a try. She did amazing!! We were worried she would get nervous because it was so much bigger than the bike she had outgrown. She was a pro. She struggled to start and stop but quickly mastered that too.
Trent talked Madison into trying out a new pizza place instead of eating PBJ. We didn't love it but it was fun to get out.
After pizza we went swimming, took naps and then got ready to eat at Olive Garden.
She stole her sisters Sprite and was not going to stop sucking! Instead of taking it away, I took pictures.
Thursday Mom and Ron came to watch the kids while Trent and I went to San Antonio for his Coach of the Year luncheon. The only reason I decided to go was because I knew Madison could care less if I was gone if my mom was here with her. Plus, I knew she would get more spoiled with them than with us. :)
Nana and Pa brought her presents--twin bunk beds for her babies and jammies. They went swimming, got sno cones and ate at Fuzzy's for lunch, ordered pizza and then went swimming again. I think she had a good birthday week. I'm pretty sure she didn't miss us while we were gone.
She even got a chocolate birthday cake. She got to pick!
This girl is so grown up. She's wise beyond her years. She's quiet. She's inquisitive. She's motherly. She's observant, VERY OBSERVANT. She's sensitive. She's a teacher. She's ours. We are so thankful the Lord chose us to be her parents.
