Thanksgiving, decorating, and haircuts!

Thanksgiving
We spent Thanksgiving with Trent's family this year. Trent had football practice Thanksgiving morning but then we headed to Frisco to celebrate with his family. The kids enjoyed playing outside and we got to eat lots of yummy food! It was a great day with family.

Decorating the tree and putting up Christmas lights!
The day after Thanksgiving we decorated our house for Christmas. Madison played with the ornaments while we put everything out. She did try to help put a few on the tree. She couldn't quite figure out how I was getting them to stay. She loved playing on Trent's ladder out front. I had to keep a close eye on her. She can climb fast.

In the next three pictures she's trying to put her hands in her pockets. It was really cold out so I was showing her that she could keep her hands warm if she put them in her pockets. She thought it was really neat. Of course she kept taking them out and she couldn't quite get them in on her own. The first two pictures she's trying really hard. She got her left hand almost all the way in but her right hand is going into her jacket. Daddy came and helped and in the third picture she's ready to go again!

Rosco gets a jacket!
Poor Rosco, he freezes in the winter. We finally found a sweatshirt for him today. He is not a fan. He's so freaked out by it. He thinks he can't walk if it's on. He literally will stay in the exact position you leave him in. He did loosen up a little as the afternoon went on but he never got completely comfortable with it. We ended up taking it off for now. We'll put it back on him tonight. Hopefully he realizes it will keep him warm and he can walk in it!

Madison gets a hair cut (kinda)
Trent has been trying to cut Madison's hair for weeks. Her hair was a mullet. But what do you do? I hated to cut it because the front will eventually catch up right?? Well I finally let him trim it today. It makes me sad when I look at her. I miss the mullet. I can't wait for her hair to be long in the front and back. Here are a few pictures. I saved some of her hair to put into her baby book.

Gingerbread House
This afternoon we decorated our first Gingerbread House. It's not as easy as it looks. It was fun and something we'll do each year.

She decided she needed to try some of the house before we finished putting it together.

After you put the house together you have to wait 15 minutes before you can decorate it. So we played in the living room while we waited.

Back to the table. Madison started off in her high chair but made her way onto the table when we wouldn't get her the candy she wanted. She was eating the candy SO FAST. She had the best time and she wasn't even helping with the gingerbread house. We ended up running out of candy for the house because Madison ate so much!

Here is our house!

notice how bare the back is...that's because the candy for this side is in a certain little girls tummy!

Showing off her first gingerbread house!

I also baked some kiss cookies today! Can you tell we're in the holiday spirits around our house? While we were doing all of this we had a roast, potatoes and carrots going in the crock pot!

And finally...

Here are a few pictures of our house! We have red, green and white lights on the house and white lights around the yard. We added the lights to the yard and the new pretty green wreath over the garage this year! Next year Trent wants to do something to the trees or put something in the yard. Before long we will be like the Griswolds!

Butter Anyone?

Madison LOVES butter! She's usually in the kitchen helping me (or Trent) cook every night. If the butter is out she wants some. Usually she'll stick the tip of her finger in and get a bite and she's good to go. This particular night I put the tub beside her so that she could get her little dip and she decided she needed a WHOLE HAND FULL! It's so gross I know. I guess she takes after her Momma. I remember always wanting to eat butter when I was little. In fact, my mom would do the same thing...let me have one bite and then I was supposed to be done. But I remember always getting more when she would turn her back. I guess I better watch out for Madison because she'll be doing the same thing before long! I know it's gross but she was so cute about it. I just had to share! Look at that grin in the first picture. That was right after she grabbed it and realized I was going to actually let her eat it.

A few random things...

We haven't been up to much lately. Liberty won this past Friday so we're still playing. They will play Dallas Christian this coming Saturday in Little Elm! If they win this one they go to state again. It'll be a tough game. Here are a few random pictures from the past week...

Madison was being silly so I was taking pictures. I got her some new jeans last week and I love them. I have had the hardest time finding jeans that fit her good. She can still move in these. I was taking a few pictures to show her Grammy because she loves Children's Place as much as I do!

Madison and Trent were playing in her room after her bath one night. Trent put all of her stuffed animals in her bed. She thought it was so funny! She has slept with all these things in her bed since then. Silly girl!

uh-oh
OK. So anytime I'm getting ready Madison sits on the counter and plays in my make-up. She puts my blush and lipstick on. I usually take my eye liner out and set it aside so she can't reach it. Well tonight I was in a hurry. We were on our way to a baby shower. I obviously wasn't paying close enough attention because I look over to see Madison with her eyes closed rubbing the eye liner on her eyes. I guess she's watched me one to many times. Needless to say we had to get the makeup remover out and get cleaned up before we left, not before a few pictures though.

Madison and Annie had the best time playing together at Johnny and Nicole's shower. Annie was reading Madison's book to her. They were both giggling. So cute! We took a group picture but I don't have it on my camera. Someone is supposed to e-mail it to me. When I get it, I'll post it.
I'm off to bed. Trent is out of school for the week (but still has football practice in the mornings) but I have to work Monday and Tuesday.

New Green Dress

This past Friday I ran into Children's Place to get Madison a few pairs of jeans...and walked out with a few pairs of jeans PLUS a dress, tights, toboggan and gloves, a long sleeved shirt and some pants to match! I went a little crazy to say the least. There were so many cute things and so much more that I wanted to buy. Madison wore her new green dress to church today so I had to get some pictures.

The two pictures outside were taken after church. She is not happy with me in the last picture because I took her blanket away from her so I could take her picture. It didn't really work out.

By the way...

Madison is doing GREAT in her bed! Sunday night Trent put her to bed and she got out and cried but she was back in bed and asleep within 3 minutes. Last night she cried when we put her to bed but she never got out of bed. She was quiet and asleep within a minute. Hopefully tonight will be the same!

Pink Nails

If you know Trent, you know he HATES finger nail polish. Madison's daycare teacher (Miss Ashley) painted her finger nails today. They are very cute. When I got there to pick her up she immediately said " I painted her nails. Is that ok?" I laughed and said that it was but that Trent might tell her differently tomorrow morning. She thought that we had painted Madison's nails several times before. She said she just sat there with her hands out while she painted and then she waved them around in the air to dry them. She had found some new kind of polish. It's in a tube. It kind of looks like a pen. She said it wasn't messy and it dries really fast. I plan to go look at Walgreens tomorrow. All this to say, Madison finally has painted finger nails!!! When Trent got home I didn't say anything to him because I wanted to see how long it would take him to notice. Madison ran out to meet him at the car and he saw them before he even picked her up. I'm telling you...he has a radar for this kind of thing! Just wait...one day she'll be wearing black on them.

The rest of the weekend...

David and Amy's Shower

Michelle, Madison and I went to White Oak Saturday afternoon for David and Amy's shower. We got to hang out with them at their house for a few hours before the shower. The shower was at David's parents house. It was a quick trip but SO good to see Amy. Madison can't wait for her newest best friend to arrive. I didn't take many pictures and one of them is really blurry. I apologize.

Reese's 5th Birthday Party

Today we drove to Sherman for Reese's birthday party. She had it at the Sher-Den Skate Rink. Madison spent most of her time dancin' to the music. It was really cute. She is such a dancin' little girl. She'll shake her booty to anything.  She had fun even though she didn't get to skate.

Madison and The Birthday Girl!

No More Crib :(

Trent decided that it was time to take the front rail off of Madison's crib. I was so sad. He took it off and then it was time for her first nap in her "new" bed. She wasn't happy with it. She stood at her door and screamed for 14 minutes. I told Trent I was going to go get her. He told me to wait one more minute, so I did...and in that one minute, she crawled into bed and went to sleep. She's such a big girl.

Taking her first nap in her 'new' bed.

On the way home from Reese's birthday party we stopped at Wal-mart and bought one of those rails you can put up to keep them from falling off. We're not sure if we're going to keep it or not but Trent put it on her bed to see how it would work. I need to get her a little step or something because she can't crawl into her bed unless her bumper pads are right next to it.

Helping Daddy put the rail up! Hopefully tonight goes ok. I'm a little worried. I'll let you know how it goes.

This weekend between Randy's game, Amy's shower and Reese's birthday party Madison and I drove 600 miles. What a weekend.
